The traditional AC motors can only operate at a constant speed and cannot be adjusted for many application scenarios, resulting in high energy consumption. The Hall effect sensor is a common method of determining rotor position from the detection of permanent magnets in conventional BLDC motors. This method has its disadvantages: the noise level highly depends on the accuracy of assembly procedure. Moreover, its control algorithm is too simple to respond to different applications, such as on-the-fly start-up.Richtek's sensorless FOC algorithm can eliminate the use of Hall sensor components. It is easy to maintain and cost-effective. Our products have also passed the complete certification of IEC-60730, helping designers to reduce time-to-market and the cost when applying for UL and CE certification.
